Ashville is located in the village of Tarbert which, with a population of approximately 400, is the largest village on Harris.  Tarbert is an ideal base for touring the island and has all the amenities you might require during your stay such as shops, restaurants and bars.

A fifteen minute drive south of Tarbert will take you to the west coast of Harris with its long stretches of beautiful, unspoilt beaches and wonderful views across to the mountains of north Harris.  In complete contrast to the machair and beaches of the west side of Harris, the east coast is a very rocky  landscape, dotted with tiny villages and secluded bays. 

The town of Stornoway is a forty five minute drive from Tarbert.
